Dear Friends,
“What is truth?” You might recognize this as the question Pontius Pilate asked Jesus shortly before he condemned Him to die. Pilate was not the first person to ask this question, and he certainly hasn’t been the last. Today, many people wonder the very same thing – “What is truth?” Ironically, just a few hours before Pilate asked Jesus this question, Jesus had given an answer to the question. The scene is the Garden of Gethsemane and Jesus is fervently engaged in prayer. In the midst of praying to His Father, Jesus makes a request and a statement. He says, “Sanctify them by the truth; Your Word is truth (John 18:38)!” Jesus is praying for those who would believe in Him. He asks the Father to sanctify them by the truth. He then states what truth is – it is the Word of God! As we welcome you to Zion, or at least to this website, we want you to know where we stand as a church. We stand on the Word of God. It is the basis of our ministry. We believe the Bible – God’s Word – to be truth! The Bible is filled with many different truths. All of these truths center in Jesus Christ. Speaking of Himself, Jesus says: “I am the Way, and the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through Me (John 14:6).” As a church we believe that Jesus is the only way to heaven. We believe Him to be the embodiment of truth. We believe that through Jesus we have life – now and forever! Recently Zion has embarked on a spiritual campaign called Connect. Our goal is to better connect with God and with one another. It is the cross of Jesus Christ that stands in the center of this connection. Through Him, as our sub theme states, we seek to Connect: Faith + Family + Future As you browse our website, may you begin, even now, to have such a connection. May God Bless you and your family. Please contact us for further information. Meanwhile, stay connected to God and to a family of faith. May you always know Jesus Christ, and thus know the answer to the question – “What is truth?” God Bless and Keep You! Pastor Mark Demel
