About Our School Zion Lutheran Preschool is an accredited preschool program, exists as an extension of the ministry of Zion Lutheran church to share the gospel of Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. The special emphasis of the preschool is to assist parents in preparing their children for their educational future and for their eternal life.
Founded in 1985, Zion Lutheran Preschool offers a Christ-centered education in an atmosphere of love and trust. The school currently serves over 80 families from Fallbrook, Bonsall, Oceanside, Temecula and Murrieta. Our accredited program is growing and changing as we respond to the needs of the communities we serve.
Philosophy At Zion Lutheran Preschool, we believe that every child is worthy of respect and is a capable learner. We provide a Christian learning environment where children are nurtured emotionally, physically and spiritually. Our program encourages children to become fully involved in each day’s activities and provides a multitude of experiences that foster social development, creative expression, cognitive growth and world discovery. Throughout each preschool day, the children are encouraged to grow closer to Jesus, by develop an understanding of our need for forgiveness and find joy in the gift of our salvation through Jesus Christ. Daily prayers, mealtime devotions, Bible stories and a curriculum infused with Christian values offer many opportunities for early spiritual growth. As a ministry of Zion Lutheran Church, the preschool serves the community by providing a Christ-centered environment where children and their families can learn about entering into a personal saving relationship with our Lord, Jesus Christ.
Curriculum Each Zion Lutheran Preschool classroom is a family of children, teachers and parents who work and play together over the course of the ten month school year. Our combination approach of projects and centers fosters the development of each child through activities in the areas of language, pre-math and science, the arts and physical activity. The age-appropriate emergence of pre-academic skills is nurtured and encouraged. Daily classroom experiences provide opportunities for problem solving, creative thinking, fluent self expression, critical thinking, group interaction and personal independence: all essential learning skills. Learning opportunities are offered in response to each child’s readiness.
Admissions Zion Lutheran Preschool serves children ages three through five. All children must be self-sufficient in the bathroom at the time of enrollment. We do not discriminate on the basis of sex, race, ethnicity or creed. The school, however is not equipped to serve children having needs that would best be met in a special education setting. La Jolla Aquarium Fieldtrip
Mrs. Gibson's class recently visiting the La Jolla Aquarium and learned all about the creatures under the sea! Everyone, including our parent chaperones enjoyed this learning experience. Grandparents Day
What a delight it was to meet so many GrandParents & GrandFriends on Thursday at Preschool. We are all blessed by the love and care of families and friends. From craft projects to bottle rockets, from singing to ringing, from story telling and story reading – the morning was filled with activities for all. Zion appreciates all the people who came – it testifies to the strong family feeling that we enjoy on our campus.

What Do You Want to be When You Grow Up?
Thank you Major McFarland for visiting our classroom and showing us all about your job! The kids were in awe!
Mrs. Gibson's preschoolers learning, playing, and spreading the Good News and Bible time with Mrs. Schmidt -- What a wonderful example we have to follow, Christ Jesus!
Dear Partners in Excellence, You have chosen an early childhood program that is accredited by The Pacific Southwest District—The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod. This church is committed to provide the same security, love and care to children today as those who sat in the lap of Jesus, our Savior, received. (Matt. 19:13-15)
Committed to excellence for young children and Christian nurture, the church focuses on providing and supporting Bible-based programs, supplemental to those provided in the home, while meeting the needs of young children.
Accredited Faith-focused learning for the balanced growth of your child
On Tuesday, August 20th, the Preschool staff welcomed their new and returning students with a western-themed BBQ. Over 100 people attended and Pastor Demel, members of the Board of Education, Zion Principal Nancy Swanlund and other Zion members were there to greet them and welcome them into the Zion family. This opening event has become a well-loved tradition for our preschool families and is capped off each year with a little scavenger hunt as a means of teaching new families their way around our ever-changing campus. Zion Preschool is continuing to accept students for the 07/08 school year.
